I teach a diverse community of learners ranging from general education, special education, and english language learners. Regardless of my students background, they come together to form a community of environmental advocates. My students participate in hands on projects, field work, and studies to learn grade level content. These students are extremely hard working and eager to learn new things. Often, my students propose their own projects- such as rebuilding a green and energy efficient Luna Park in Coney Island to prevent runoff into the ocean. This is one of the many projects and inventions my students have proposed to make the world a better place. My students are engaged when their learning is brought outside of the classroom and their notebooks. They need hands on meaningful experiences to help them continue to fall in love with science.
