My classroom roster consists of sixteen students. The students come in and out throughout the day to receive instruction in either reading, writing, math, and social skills (behavior). My classroom consists of nine African Americans, two Hispanic, and one Caucasian. All of the students receive free or reduced price lunch. Most of my students have some form of ADHD. Overall our school has many challenging behaviors. For instance in the first month of school we had 93 office referrals and five in school suspensions. These referrals were for physical aggression and oppositional defiance (disrespect and refusal). The students come from low income homes. When they come to school they know this is a safe and comfortable place where they will get positive attention and fed.
