My students are faced with many challenges that originate outside of school (jobs, family issues, bad home situations). These students have a hard time focusing and excelling in school because of the stress and challenges they deal with outside of school. Most of my students do not get motivated to read a novel, but when they hear more about the final literature projects, they become consumed with curiosity. My students become aware of their own literacy.
