Round tables in a Kindergarten classroom make it possible for projects with small groups, sharing of supplies, and community and social skills building to be accomplished. My students will have a clean, safe, and sturdy table to work on their class work, interpersonal skills, and projects. These smaller style round tables will allow my kindergartners to have the room for brain breaks out their chairs, physical movement, and more floor space for more hands on learning. Studies show that allowing young learners the opportunity to incorporate physical movement in their daily academic routine improves retention of skills taught, as well as the opportunity to build much needed verbal communication skills along with social skills. These tables give my students more room to do just that. We have a beautiful school but, unfortunately, we’re not able to purchase new furniture for the classrooms when it was built. Our furniture is several decades old, wobbly, written on, and damaged. It is nothing the children in kindergarten can be proud of.
