Reading and literacy are directly connected to student success. This is not only in regards to success in language arts classes, but in all content areas of a student's education. Literacy is critical to student understanding and engagement in all endeavors in and outside of the classroom. By giving our students texts that are engaging and reflective of their own lives and the world around them, we can help to increase student literacy and success. The more students feel they can connect and relate to the material, the more value they find in engaging and participating in the classroom. The more value they find in engaging and participating in the classroom, the more success they experience which in turn boosts self esteem and self efficacy.

About my class
