My students come from a low socioeconomic area in south Mississippi and are not exposed to a variety of literature outside of the classroom. When exposed to literature in my classroom, my students LOVE to discuss what they are reading with me and with one another. This excitement for reading must be nurtured in order for it to thrive. Because my students have limited access to experiences outside of our community, I find it important to expose them to as many literary genres as possible in the school year.

About my class
