My students come from a variety of backgrounds. We have English Language Learners (Spanish, Russian, Somalian, Urdu, and more), immigrant families, and families from low to high socio-economic backgrounds. Our free and reduced lunch population is 32.1%. Our primary ethnic groups are White, Asian-America, and African-American. I would describe my school as a neighborhood school with very committed staff members and a dedicated parent population. Students do well on state tests, especially in reading and math. Our district has a one-on-one laptop program for grades five through 12. In Kindergarten through 4th grade, students use laptops from a cart. We, teachers, try to find ways in these lower grades to prepare our students for using their laptops safely and wisely. Teaching them how to research by searching for authoritative information is part of our program. We also want students to know how to be creative with technology. The iPads provide another avenue for creativity,
