We all know that students learn in different ways, but our classrooms are not always set up to reflect that. While I cannot change the structure and expectations of the curriculum, I can create an environment that all students can feel more at home in with ball chairs, stools and floor cushions. We work a lot on literacy in my classroom and students have shown over the years that they work best in their own space. This year my students have really rolled with this idea and made it their own. My students have really taken their learning into their own hands and shown that they are capable of being successful in their own space. This has been demonstrated while reading, writing, during independent reflection and during small group work. I want to support my students in being independent and working in the way that best suits their needs.
