The supplies I am requesting will be used to help students develop reading and writing skills. Reading and writing are connected. Students are more inclined to recall information after writing about specific details. They are also able to discover their own ability to think critically about a subject after writing about it. Students will write in the requested journals weekly about the text they are reading. They will also maintain a vocabulary journals as they learn new words. By marking through a text, students develop their close-reading skills. The highlighters will make it easier to mark through a text and identify the main idea, supporting details, and unknown vocabulary words. Each week students will need a set of headphones to complete a reading and writing activity on their Chromebook.
