My students are sweet, caring, and want a bright future. However, they are faced with learning disabilities that often get them overlooked by peers and society at large. My students come from a variety of backgrounds but many are minorities and nearly all of them come from families in a lower economic standing. However, in today's world they are often overlooked because they represent standardized testing liabilities and are treated as such. We constantly get outdated and dilapidated equipment, technology, and teaching spaces that can barely be called "classrooms". While not all of my students will go off to college and become doctors and lawyers they deserve access to the same opportunities and respect as their non-disabled peers.
