Studies have shown that incorporating movement and excercise during the school day can help make students less fidgety and more focused on learning. It can also help to improve on task behavior and may help improve memory and concentration. I am very excited to bring more kinesthetic activity into our classroom. I work to incorporate subject appropriate kinesthetic activities already like simulations and work in our school garden, but it would be terrific to have the opportunity for movement even with other work. Giving students options to work while standing with desks and to be active while seated with pedal exercisers, plus balance balls and wobble chairs will work to achieve these things for students in our classroom.
