Identified students will be given digital voice recorders to take home daily for use during the 20 minute independent reading time in the home. In addition, students will select leveled reading chapter books based on their interests. All books will be required to have a Accelerated Reader comprehension quiz to be taken in class after completion of each title. All recordings will be downloaded by me daily to verify their practice and determine if adjustments need to made. Research has shown it is impossible to monitor reading practice if it is SSR or DEAR independent time where text is not read aloud.
