Coming from a low income school our funds and resources are almost non-existent. Being as though I have native language speakers our focus is language. I have been trying to build our library, especially since we no longer have a librarian at our school. It has not been easy to do guided reading but I am creative and buy what I can as far as leveled readers and print out books for the kids to practice. More leveled readers are still needed. I was also in a program where I was able to get a Chromebook for each student to implement more technology in the classroom but still need headphones for them. Reading is fundamental and although we've grown as readers through our listening center, our stereo has broken down. I like to engage my students in real-life examples so they make connections which is where the teach and store chart stand will be beneficial. The stand will make it easier to implement my mini lessons in any subject. By having the storage space below the stand it will limit transitioning time getting materials from around the room. For example I can store my markers, pointers, magnetic letters or words, numbers, pictures etc to help the students better understand my lesson. Regardless of the lack of funds and resources my school has, I want my students to feel special. By having resources such as journals, headphones, book bins, books, and a chart stand will make a world of difference in their academic progress that will lead to brighter futures.
