Students with disabilities and sensory disorders benefit from the use of sensory tools that help with keeping them emotionally regulated and allow for better learning. Many of our students present with communication deficits as well as physical deficits. Therefore, switch toys and switches give them the opportunity to access devices for communication, play, and learning. With the use of these tools we expect to see our students increase their participation in the classroom, increase their body awareness and environmental awareness, and have increased interactions with their teachers, and classmates. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, it is difficult to have students share equipment. By providing these items many more of our students will have the opportunity to participate in sensory activities and interact with switches for communication, learning, and leisure pursuits.
