Hello! I teach 8th grade math and Honors Algebra at a Title 1, 100% Free/Reduced Lunch, "High-Needs" Elementary School in inner-city Phoenix. This is my 6th year teaching, and one of my greatest successes and joys in the classroom is pushing my students to new levels of mathematical understanding, critical reasoning skills, and (I hope!) intellectual curiosity. I am especially proud of my Honors Algebra students ... every year, a majority of my Algebra kids pass Phoenix Union High School District's rigorous Algebra Qualifying Test and earn 1 year of high school math credit! They are defying the odds and working hard to get on a path to success in high school, college & beyond. I was a Phoenix Teaching Fellow with the New Teacher Project (TNTP) in 2010, and I am an NBCT candidate! "Small minds discuss people. Average minds discuss events. Great minds discuss ideas. ... Really great minds discuss mathematics!"
