Our school sponsors an after school First Robotics Team. Our students meet after school and design and build a robot to compete in the annual First Robotics Competition. It takes a lot of metal to build a robot from scratch! We use aluminum for the frame or "bones" of the robot. Our students also cut gears and timing pulleys out of flat aluminum bar stock. The students are learning STEM from the ground up. The students design in CAD, cut materials using lathes and CNC routers, and then finally assemble and program the robots. And finally, they get to compete in the annual international competition against other high schools.
