My scholars come from a variety of backgrounds and are in an underprivileged area. Many have been pushed through the school system without ever having the expectancy of learning or excelling. The school serves as a safe haven for the scholars and for many parents, it is a beacon of light after years of dealing with an under performing school district. In my classroom, I have a mixture of scholars who are really eager to learn, but have never had the opportunity and those who have given up on learning because it has been such a struggle already. It is my desire to reignite that love for learning in those scholars who have given up and to give the individualized attention to those who were left behind. My scholars are especially enthusiastic about science and they can never get enough experience. They love engaging with the nature outside of the school, especially finding toads on the playground.
