Our Calm Down/Safe Place will be a special area in our classroom to provide students with a place to consider their feelings and choose from a variety of materials in a safe space to help them go from a state of fear, anger, or sadness into a state of calm and security so that they are able to fully engage in learning. Upset students will be able to visit the calm down/safe place and use a weighted lap pad as they have a quiet "chat" with one of the expressions babies or use the breathing ball during their calming breaths or other fidget toys for some calm down care. The Yoya liquid motion bubblers will help the students relax and remain focused. They will also be able to describe their feelings using the hand2 mind feelings cards and be able to let us know when their feelings/emotions change. This will be a place where EVERY student may learn and grow socially and emotionally (which also under girds strong academic growth) and will help in building a positive healthy classroom and school environment.
