In the Integrated Learning Center (ILC) classroom, I have the privilege to spend my day with a great group of 9-12th graders who have varying disabilities including intellectual disability, emotional/behavioral, down syndrome, and autism, who are working on building skills for life after high school. In my classroom, we spend our days learning life skills, functional math, reading and writing skills, and how to be an active member of society. My students are eager to learn but are still learning the skills to be successful in their classes, and in the community. My goal is for my students to leave my classroom with a greater sense of independence, and having the necessary skills to be successful in life after high school. My school is located in one of the most diverse districts in Washington, and my students come from a variety of economic and cultural backgrounds.
