As a special education teacher, I have many tricks up my sleeve to approach skill practice through a kinesthetic lens. Manipulatives, counters, letter tiles, syllable division, and alphabet cards are many of the tools that we typically use in our brick and mortar classrooms. But now, I am struggling to have students "see" me manipulate these learning aids in our remote setting. A document camera will provide my students with a view of my literacy and numeracy manipulatives to better support remote learning. I typically use letter tiles and number tiles (among many other supportive manipulatives) on a daily basis and my shared screen of a word document is really not making the grade! A document camera within a zoom lesson would facilitate this immensely. Many of my colleagues are using document cameras successfully every day with our students. I hope to have the same opportunities with my students by January 2021. Thank you in supporting my diverse learners with a more engaging approach to literacy and math skill practice and in your support for my project!
