Our school enjoys a diverse population of students from varied economic backgrounds. I teach 5 classes of seventh grade English, approximately, 155 kids: 1 Special Education, mainstream class, 2 Honors and 2 College Prep classes. I love my school and students. My students are quintessential, Southern California, beach community middle school kids. They are caring, CREATIVE, hard-working, active and technologically savvy (digital natives). They work well together and thrive in collaborative groups. We spent the beginning of the school year researching habits of success, being a "gritty" learner, setting goals, and reading and discussing articles such as, "What it Takes to Be Great", "Got Grit", etc. My students are focused and committed to hard work and a successful school year! Our public school was built in the 1980's and is well maintained but has limited resources. The staff is close and works together to provide a great middle school experience for our students.
