Were you that student who was accused of always having the wiggles? Was it hard for you to sit still while you were learning? Flexible seating gives students choice as well as the opportunity for movement. Physical activity improves behavior and academic performance. I want to give my students a classroom where they feel empowered. My students will be able to choose the seat that keeps them engaged and gives them more control over their learning environment. I have been using flexible seating for two years and I have seen a difference in classroom behavior. The movement the wobble chairs and the balance balls allows is beneficial to those students who need to move as they learn. By offering a variety of seating options, students can feel more comfortable as well as more creative. These seating options can easily be moved around the room for group work and allows for more space in the classroom for movement.
