My students all come from a background of poverty. Their incomes are low, and most are from a single parent household. They want to do well, and they try very hard. Many have parents who are incarcerated as well. They barely have school supplies to take care of daily tasks. My school tries very hard to meet their needs with a small budget. There is not enough funding for extras, or we would purchase what is needed. We are an inner city charter school, that is run out of a state college, not a for profit. Our students are important to us, and we want to be able to help them succeed. Helping them with a new carpet would go a long way to helping them out!
