My students are curious, open-minded, and adventurous. They love seeing sight words in books they are reading, and they love to show me words they have recently learned in the books they read. Some students struggle with reading, but they strive to become better. My school really focuses on student involvement and hands on learning. We feel it is better for students to be exposed to words while reading books, than to have the students memorize spelling words.
