Hello! I recently found out that after 29 years in an elementary homeroom, I will be teaching ART next year! Finally!!! I have always been creative and do use my talents in my classroom, incorporating art into the regular curriculum. Now, however, I get to teach the art standards. I am sooo excited!!! I passed the art certification test in 2009, but have never had the opportunity to teach art, until now! Boy! I have a LOT of stuff to get rid of, and a lot of stuff to get...books that tie into art, for one. I love watching my students get excited about the projects we do that tie art into other areas of the curriculum. Because I have to teach the first grade curriculum, we fit these projects in here or there. We will be coming back from recess and they will ask, "When are we going to work on our projects again?" I love their enthusiasm! I would like to start next year with my resources ready to go. Books, please!
