My school is in an urban area and most of the students live in a low-income household. The students I work with need a lot of attention, specific praise, and knowledge in the fact that they are succeeding each day. I work specifically with students in Kindergarten through Grade 2, working with them to increase phonemic awareness, fluency, and comprehension. I love the challenge of working in an urban school and working with about 45 students a day. My students have become "my kids" and I have learned so much and have become a better teacher because of the wonderful opportunity I've been given to teach in an urban district.
