As the librarian, my goal is to provide reading options that fit my students interests and background. I surveyed students to find this out as well as looking at data around our most popular books. I firmly believe Jason Reynolds' quote, "kids who 'hate' reading don’t hate books; They just hate reading boring books." I want to find books that are not boring to my students. They requested horror books, graphic novels/manga, poetry by diverse authors, romance, sports and Harry Potter (they still love these and I'm missing some in my set!) and other sequels to books they enjoyed. I'm hoping by adding more books that pique their interest, we will increase reading for fun in our school.
