My students will be able to use these manipulatives to help themselves understand each of the new math common core concepts. Most of my students struggle with learning a second language, and it is very difficult for most of them to understand the complex vocabulary utilized in sixth grade math problems. Hands on activities will motivate them to practice in a fun way and to interact with their peers. By working in groups they will practice not only math, but English language as well. Also they will apply math concepts to real life applications that common core requires, in order to master all math standards. Implementing these new strategies will help improve their grades.
