My students have dyslexia and work daily in small groups to practice coding words, learning patterns, spelling, and writing so they become more fluent readers and writers. My groups will begin their upcoming year working from home. This was very difficult last spring so I plan to provide materials that will make learning at home resemble our face-to-face lessons...white boards and markers for coding words, mirrors to see the shapes of their mouths as they make sounds, and journals to capture their handwriting, spelling and written responses. I will be creating at-home kits for students in my dyslexia groups in order for them to have the materials we use in each lesson while they work at home at the beginning of the school year during our remote learning, then throughout the year for additional practice.
