Students will create robots collaboratively. They will work in small teams to design, build, and program their robot. They will learn basic engineering and physics fundamentals: how to work with gears, connecting power, torque, etc. Students will use the LEGO Mindstorms Robot to code and then compete against other students. The Lego system will allow us to add a competitive element to the student robots. Students will add a certain Lego element to each of their robots. Students will then code their robot to "fight" against another team's robot. The team that is able to remove the element from the other player's robot first, wins. This project is 100% reusable. When students finish, the Lego gets to be reused by the next class, and the next. Year after year this project has the potential of inspiring hundreds or even thousands of students to become the engineers of the future.
