These iPads will afford students the opportunity to see literacy in a technical format that they would not have otherwise seen. The current technology we are provided limits the exposure of each student and I would like to improve that. I have a wide range of English Language Learners who will all benefit from additional technology in the classroom. Some of my students are pre-literate English learners and are at a disadvantage, as they do not have internet access at home. My other students who are functioning at a higher level, will benefit from having this technology as a part of their enrichment. This added tool in my class will foster a love of independent reading, which is an essential component of the reading block in intermediate grades. After all, it is paramount for children to become literate in order to be a productive member of society.
