My project is for all of my 5th grade students. A total of four fifth grade classes will benefit from this activity. These students have curious minds and are very excited about art. Our plan is to utilize their excitement for art to teach them about Native American culture and the physical changes that occur in clay when it is fired in a kiln. Many of these students are hands-on kinesthetic learners who will be able to learn from doing a fun, messy clay project better than they could from a book.
