Students at Macon Early College choose to graduate high school ready for college, ready for careers, and ready for life. Our students are enrolled in a rigorous, accelerated program built from high school and community college classes and graduate from MEC with a high school diploma and either an A.A. or A.S. degree. These students, most of whom come from low-income, first-generation college bound households, have decided to do without the traditional high school experience in order to be better prepared for life outside the classroom. In addition, it is my goal in the English program for each student to leave MEC more aware and accepting of different cultures, attitudes, and beliefsand to leave MEC more aware of themselves as thinkers and writers.
