I have a diverse population of students. They are typical adolescents with a lot of ideas and are eager to learn in new and exciting ways. The school is a close knit group who support each other despite our tremendous lack of resources. I am using literature textbooks from 2003, and due to a paper quota, we utilize a smartboard and do a lot with paper and pencil. We have very few resources, but seem to manage with much time trying to locate good resources. Students sit in desks which they are outgrowing; you know the old kind with the very small writing area and no pencil tray. Students work with peers on small projects and daily assignments and are utilized the sparse resources to the best of their abilities. We often use Cornell notes to record needed information and have notebooks that are checked on a weekly basis. We do face challenges, as all schools do, with sometimes no room to move with the crowded conditions. Our teachers and administrators support each other.
