My students come from an impoverished area; however, they deserve the same opportunities and supplies as any other scholar . My students are bright, beautiful, and so full of passion for knowledge that it would drive any teacher wild. They love to learn and are intrigued by what is taught to them. They are inner city youth from Gary, Indiana. Before anything my students never tell you what they "can't do " but what they "can do". They know that they are proud African American students that can produce and achieve on any level. The school that I am at shows them every day that it is possible and very achievable for them. It is not a dream but a measure because it can be done. They are ambitious to reach these goals and this is what pushes me to push for them. You can't help a person who doesn't want to help themselves. They help themselves and strive to impact the future with their success and prove others wrong. They're not what some people suggest that Gary, Indiana represent.
