"Unbroken" tells the story of Louis Zamperini, an American hero growing up in the Depression. He overcame his life circumstances during the time of war in Germany to become an Olympian. He served his country and survived crashing at sea only to become a POW in a Japanese camp. His relationships with his family and close friends are what gave him the resolve to survive. While reading this novel, students will engage in discussions and activities regarding that era, as well as, the resilience, determination and courage it took for Louis to survive. Students will complete writing exercises and multimedia projects to enhance their understanding.
