I teach at a high school that is a high need school. At my school, 30% of the students attend a 4 year college or university or go to trade school. I teach 10th grade students, a grade which is a borderline as to dropping out of school or finishing an , in some cases, being the first in his or her family to get a high school diploma. Kids need something to motivate them. I believe that performing experiments that they students normally would not do and that other teachers won't do because they are afraid that they kids will act out of control or tear things up would motivate them.
