My students come from all different cultural and economic backgrounds. It is a blessing to work in a school with so much diversity. Every day we learn from each other. Over half of our school's population is on free or reduced lunch. Close to half of my class does not have the ability to purchase supplies to keep up with the demands of our technology driven society and educational system. While we have made technology available in the classroom, we still lack the ability to keep up with and support changes. Our school is fortunate enough to have laptops to use during class time, but not all students can afford to bring headphones or ear buds. Students do not have access to printers at home and need to use the printers at school to print projects, essays, and research papers. We have moved on from paper and pencil assignments to using technology, but we are in need of providing every child with the best tools to showcase and present their ideas and understanding of curriculum.
