Most students do not have access to technology at home. My school is 76%+ free and reduced lunch. My students also struggle with focus and attention, which makes it quite difficult to teach lessons in a whole group setting. My students retain more information in a small group setting. If I am able to engage my students in independent skill practice, I can then teach my small group lessons with more efficiency and with less interruption. I currently have three older classroom computers, but my classroom is in dire need of new and engaging technology. Our school, as a whole, struggles in reading and mathematics as documented by state wide testing. I hope to improve their competence through the use of the iPad Mini. This will also allow me to provide additional learning activities for individuals and small groups with technology.
