Learning centers are areas within the classroom where students learn about specific subjects by participating in hands-on activities. During learning centers students increase their interest in academics and gain understanding of the standards at the same time. My students look forward to participating in fun and engaging activities during our literacy time. I am requesting a letter of the week pocket chart, listening center, and letter stamps so that my students can build words, write sentences and draw pictures. The printer and ink that I am requesting for my will allow me to print more learning puzzles, phonic readers, sight word flashcards, and more! Learning centers allow children to take risks without fear of failure. Focus is on process rather than product. These center activities will allow students to create art, learn and practice math skills and phonic skills. Worksheets, drills, and long lectures are not the most effective way for Kindergarten students to learn and understand the academic standards. Learning is fun!
