I am asking for a license for MathType equation editor. This will allow me to create clear, elegant equations in multiple colors thus making the examples in class clearer and easier to understand for the students. The ability to change the color of key components of an equation highlights the critical part of a solution. I have found that color coding each variable differently helps the students understand the flow of a solution better. I am also requesting a gyroscopic cordless mouse with laser pointer so I can operate my SmartBoard from all around the room. Freeing me to move among the students while teaching will allow me to get a better grasp on what concepts need to be revisited as the year goes along. Finally I am asking for a heavy duty electric pencil sharpener because my students use pencils exclusively in math so there is often a need to sharpen a pencil during class.
