Remember when you were a young student learning how to read? Do you remember the strategies you used, and the people who helped you along the way? Do you have those classic stories that even to this day love to hear? I have 19 children that love to READ! I believe when it comes to reading, one of the best ways to learn and enhance confidence is through exposure to many books and lots of hands on experience. We use books during throughout instruction at Readers and Writers Workshop, Literacy Centers, as well as integration in Math and Science. I am asking that you help me as a teacher provide the necessary tools my class needs to become strong, confidence, and curious readers! One of the first strategies I teach is that there is more than one way to read a book. We them to look at the pictures for details the illustrator is showing us. Every year my students are amazed at how the pictures tell a story and how much you are are able to are able to pick up on JUST by using our eyes!
