I have 6th through 8th grade students total of 5 classes. Majority Black children and a small Percent of Hispanic and white children, 28 to 1, student to teacher . Two Honors courses, one 6th and one 7th grade, and one 6th grade regular, one 7th grade regular, 8th grade regular class. These particular students have had a tough break when it comes to Math teachers never a consistent teacher in the classroom. They are children who want to learn but unfortunately have not gain many of the basic skills in mathematics that allow them to advance a quick as I would like them too. I will say they are fighters and they have truly risen to my expectations I have set for them at the beginning of the year. I believe the environment of the school is helping our children improve and accomplish goals in math they didn't see for them self. The school provides a positive environment, where students are praised and rewarded for their accomplishments and provides great examples of success.
