I am asking for a Developmental Reading Analysis Assessment Kit for my students. The Developmental Reading Analysis Assessment Kit is a tool used to obtain an accurate assessment of students’ current reading levels. It is administered individually in a conference like style. This tool helps focus on each student's specific needs by determining independent and instructional reading levels. When these levels are correctly identified, teachers can provide proper reading instruction leading to optimal instruction in the classroom. Currently, I am using an old DRA kit left behind from the teacher before me but unfortunately, this set is incomplete. It is necessary to share and borrow among teachers throughout the school. I would like to have a new Developmental Reading Analysis Kit for my first grade classroom. DRA emphasizes setting instructional goals specific to each child. After using this kit I would be able to recognize and adjust instruction based on developmentally appropriate reading levels. I have used this kit in the past in its entirety, and as a result of being better able to adjust instruction to meet the students’ specific needs, I have seen remarkable improvement in my students' reading capabilities. The DRA kit would be a wonderful addition to our first grade classroom. If students are able to choose the right book, they will be more motivated to read. I am trying to build an environment in our classroom where students can come to read and love to read!
