At our school our emphasis is on fostering a positive learning environment that promotes academic excellence, self-esteem, language proficiency, and exemplary citizenship. These values instill in our students a positive self-image which is directly related to their achievement and success in school. My 4th grade students live in a low income neighborhood and attend an inner city school. They face many socio-economic challenges and have few resources to aid in their learning at home. These children are learning in Spanish and English and need help with vocabulary, reading, and comprehension skills. Many students do not have access to computers and tablets at home. Despite these obstacles they are eager to learn new things, have positive attitudes, and love coming to school! Together as a team we learn, help each other, and celebrate our victories!
