My kids are great! They work hard, they enjoy school and are respectful and willing to learn and grow-basically everything any teacher could ask for. We are over 97% Hispanic and and low socioeconomic status. Many of my kids are the first generation Americans and will likely be the first member of their family to go to college. Coming from a very middle class background myself and having had difficulties in college, I worry about their experience and want to prepare them as much as possible. I know when I graduated in 2009, technology was a huge part of the college experience. I want to work with my students on how to use tablets in a way that they will actually use them in higher ed, not just for playing games and Internet browsing. It is my goal that by the end of the year they have picked up useful skills for navigating the necessary digital landscape that their collegiate career will require of them.
