Most of our students came from low-income families (87% ), therefore many of them do not have opportunities to get exposed to Art based learning beyond the school door. They have too much potential and they are so eager to learn that it is sad when the lack of resources gets in the way to develop it. Sheridan Arts & Dual Immersion school serves students from Pre-K to 5th-grade and our main mission is to provide every student with a diverse, standards-based educational experience through the arts and language immersion instruction. Arts integration goes beyond including art projects in class; it is a teaching strategy that seamlessly merges arts standards with core curricula to build connections and provide engaging context. Arts integration also contributes to the emotional and psychological well-being of our kids providing new ways to express themselves and find meaning in learning. We love our kids and we want to see them succeed!
