As a teacher new to this grade level, I find that it is unique in the materials needed to successfully engage students in literacy activities for a sustained time. These materials provide practice in letters and sounds and building words, which benefits students' reading and writing. Our school uses Reading Groups/Literacy Stations as part of our daily schedule to support basic literacy skills. I've found that through engaging, standards-based, and developmentally appropriate materials that students can use independently, my kiddos have made tremendous growth and build confidence in their classroom/school experiences. I'm excited to use such amazing centers in my kindergarten classroom! My students would love them!
