I have 21 third grade students who live in a low poverty area with reduced-price lunch. My school is a charter school that does provide us with fabulous technology such as a SmartBoard and iPads, however the small hands-on manipulatives are not fully in play. Things like place value coins and "finding evidence" clips can be the small motivators that those few students need to climb the mountain to success just a little easier.
