Each student brings a unique skill level for every subject. I have found that in my years of teaching many students struggle with the language of science and non-fiction texts. In our classroom each student is valued for their ideas. I want to maximize my students success by allowing them to engage with the material in a wide variety of ways and mediums. One of our units for science is about plants and we do a project with hands on experiments using the scientific method of exploring a hypothesis and the students love it. I want them to love science and to be comfortable to speak with confidence about diagrams, like those in Gail Gibbon's texts, and to use that information to help them grow as learners.
